19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after spring of that year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He defended four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
