Cars in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered many other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state early analysis show the liquid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important representative said the incident rendered him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
